The project involved completely removing the current single-ply waterproofing system and replacing it with a new Alumasc three-layer system. This included installing tapered insulation and applying all layers using hot air. Additionally, new permanent edge protection/handrail and PV panels were installed.
Brickwork repairs were necessary. Since the building was new, it adhered to updated regulations that were different from those we encountered in previous refurbishment projects. These regulations included insulated parapet upstands. To accommodate this, we had to mechanically attach insulation to the vertical face, which also led to changes in the trim and drip detail. Additionally, adjustments were made to the lightning conductor system to account for the original metal capping. Raising the roof height with new insulation meant that the parapet was no longer tall enough, necessitating the installation of permanent edge protection.
