M&J completed 9,000m2 of re-roofing at the Centre MK in 2018 using Alumasc’s carbon neutralising product, Olivine. The Centre were very interested in having a green roof installed, but were concerned with the increased maintenance required for a traditional green roof.
M&J sourced the market for the best solution and presented the Olivine system to the client. This fell in line with the Centre’s performance and green credentials and was taken forward as the preferred option. Given the Centre is operational 364 days a year the logistics were key to a successful project. All services at the Centre were kept fully operational throughout the project. All fire risk areas were carried out using flame free application and M&J’s new ‘E-Dryer’ was utilised for drying up fire risk areas in preparation for the system application.
With over 100,000m2 of roofing at the Centre, the aim is to re-roof it entirely using the Olivine product. So far we have saved approximately 14 family cars worth of emissions each year. Not only have we reduced carbon emissions we saved the client money on their previous system without the need for costly irrigation systems needed to maintain a traditional sedum roof.
