Various types of roofs, both listed and unlisted, can be found in the conservation area of The Old Town of Stevenage, with origins dating back to 1558.
These roofs feature a combination of Old Handmade Peg Tiles and Machine-made nibbed plain tiles. They exhibit a variety of pitches, including tiled dormers and lead-top flat roof dormers with lead cheeks. The structures also included timber fascia, soffits, and bargeboards. M&J were enlisted to carry out the necessary works, with a specific focus on preserving the historic appearance of the buildings and utilizing as much of the original building materials as possible.
